Some people and clubs we have helped recently

'Excellent service and help throughout the whole process. Many Thanks.' - Shaun McPoland, Roose Pioneers RLFC

a big THANK YOU!
The Firecrackers would like to thank Barrow Borough Sports Council for a very generous grant.
We will be using the money to develop the club further: investing in our coaching and reffing skills,
acquiring spare kit for our newbies and, most excitingly, getting boutfits ready for our first bout…

'Askam RLFC would like to thank Barrow Borough Sports Council for their support in sport and their partnership approach they have to the community at large that they have given in the last 12 months.
Which without support like that the progress of the Club and achievements of the teams such as the Under 16s Scholarships to Whitehaven, Workington and St Helens and also the Under 12s in their Treble victory in FCA League and Knock-out Cup and the Cumbria Cup, would have been so much harder to do.'

Hindpool Touch Festival

Hindpool National family week Touch festival proves to be big hit.
Sunday 6th June saw a touch festival take place at Hindpool ARLFC between several local amateur clubs. The day saw the teams compete in a round robin type festival with all clubs playing each other once then going into the finals.
The touch festival was the second of 6 festivals, which are sponsored by Barrow Sports Council, to take place in the South Cumbrian district. The numbers had grown from the previous festival held at Walney and hopefully it will continue to do so for future events.
The group games were close with both Barrow Island and Roose Pioneers making it to the final from a five team strong competition. The final was close but Barrow Island came out victorious.
For more information on future events, contact Matt Jefferson on 07775 022799 or matt.jefferson@rfl.uk.com

Barrow Island RLFC - £997.50

Barrow Island RLFC received a grant £997.50  from Barrow Borough Sports Council
The money will be spent on getting 15 people qualified on First Aid (£450) and a new strip for the under 7's (£547)  (see attached photo)
The club has  recently been awarded Clubmark Gold.

Barrow Borough Sports Council has awarded Walney Central ARLFC - £1043.98

The club has formed a new U18’s team to play in the Cumbrian League.
The league is to sustain Cumbrian youth interest in the sport and to bridge the gap between the under 16s and open age sections.

There are many more examples of success here.
